- Follow-up on the OpenCode Console leak: OpenAI Codex lead Tibo says OpenAI has worked with OpenCode to restore access for affected users who are also OpenAI API customers, and credits stolen through attacks will be refunded; he also mentions you can apply for Daybreak Blue to use OpenAI’s more permissive cybersecurity configuration for defense, and urges people not to wait until something happens. 2.3k+ likes. Alibaba Tongyi’s MAI-UI team open-sources OpenGCUA, a full “general computer-use agent” stack (harness, cross-device SDK, native macOS app, evaluation trajectories, reference agent). Instead of screenshotting and clicking at every step, the model decides when to take screenshots and writes Python programs with loops and conditions that orchestrate GUI actions, app APIs and shell commands. meng shao’s paper summary: on OSWorld-v2 the average of 8 models rises from 45.3 to 64.9 with 53% fewer steps on average, weaker models gaining the most.
NetEase LobsterAI publishes the “China Office Agent User Behavior Report”, with conclusions quite different from the impression on X: WeChat is the biggest entry point for office agents (77%, Feishu 14.3%), the biggest use case is still general coding/IT, 73.6% of ordinary users use only one model, and the most common combination is DeepSeek Flash with GLM 5.3 Flash. 铁锤人 adds that during the National Day holiday the agent usage peak shifted from 4 pm to 10 pm.
DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 update: per 智东西, it (Max tier) is already #1 open-source on the Code Arena WebDev leaderboard and #12 overall (1670 points), ahead of Claude Opus 5 (High), at about a tenth of Kimi K3’s cost. 花叔 also posted a reading of the price report on why it feels cheapest.
Tips & Hands-on
- How to save money on multi-agent coding (new Cohere paper, via Rohan Paul): agent teams beat a single agent but cost 3 to 7 times more. Experiments found that having sub-agents only research and plan, not write code, performs the same as full involvement at half the cost; using the strongest model (GPT-5.6 Sol) as the lead with 16 cheap Luna planners is only 1.4 points below all-Sol at 70% less cost. Having cheap models write code, conversely, hurts results. Directly applicable to configuring subagents: keep the expensive model as the lead that writes code, and give exploration and planning to cheap models. X @rohanpaul_ai
tv-vibehack (recommended by Gorden Sun): the author used Claude Code to build an ad-free launcher for his parents’ Xiaomi TV, with no root and no cable: just put the computer and TV on the same Wi-Fi and turn on debug mode to install. Afterwards the home screen becomes a plain black minimalist UI with no boot ads or push content; the launcher is only 1.6MB, pure Java, and runs on old TVs with 1GB RAM. A good weekend project for the family TV.
- Thorsten Ball (Amp engineer) replies to junior engineers: he says perhaps 30–50% of what he used to spend time practicing no longer matters much, such as Vim, obscure command-line and syntax, standard-library details; whatever the model’s coding ability, four things stay valuable: knowing what to build and why; owning the whole chain from business problem to customer value; systems thinking (now when writing prompts for agents he thinks about how parts of the system interact, not code); and writing well.
